Summary

The ongoing pandemic has made organisations realise that digital transformation is imperative for their long-term viability. This has given rise to the acceleration of digital transformation which brings both challenges to how organisations need to address cyber risk but also an opportunity to rethink their cyber security strategy, based on the principles of Zero Trust. In this presentation, Mark Shaw from Palo Alto Networks will discuss how the Zero Trust principle of “never trust, always verify,” has become a global strategic initiative that many organisations are adopting to prevent successful cyberattacks.

Presenter

Having spent 10 years focussed on the implementation of large IT infrastructure projects to global customers across the UK, NZ and Australia, Mark then pivoted to IT security 15 years ago, finding his passion lay in helping enterprises adapt their people, processes and technology to address the evolving and increasing threats presented by cyber adversaries. With organisations accelerating their digital transformation initiatives to embrace cloud, mobile and remote working and facing increasing regulatory pressures in relation to data privacy, Mark jumped at the opportunity to join the cyber security market leader, Palo Alto Networks in early 2020… just sneaking in before a global pandemic hit.

In his current role Mark engages with Palo Alto Networks’ customers and partners, industry analysts and media organisations; sharing ideas, discussing trends and ultimately providing insight and thought leadership in all things cyber.
When he’s not helping enterprises fight the bad guys, there’s a very good chance you’ll find Mark on a bike, somewhere in the hills surrounding Auckland.
